Today begins a series of posts on how I write characters.
How many tips will there be? Eight of course!
Step one:- give the person a distinctive physical trait.
This could be a scar, a mole, or hair colour. Even a particular perfume.
This is important for minor characters, in particular, to stop them from fading into the background. it means just the slightest reference and the reader knows who is present in the scene without forever having to spell it out.
Stay tuned for part two.
