Whatho Humans!
Step three in my ongoing series of how I write characters. After you’ve done steps 1 and 2 we now add a signifier name. This isn’t the final name for the character so much as a job description or a name that brings the vision to life in one of my brains.
It might be cranky grandma, Elvira the secretary or James the butler. Each of these names helps me to gel that character. It makes it easier to think about the character’s role and what sort of personality they are going to have.
James will be prim and proper, Elvira dark and mysterious and cranky grandma will be both old and cranky.
Later I will give them an actual name but I find these placeholders help a lot at this stage.
Stay tuned for part 4!
